The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the world’s leading nonprofit, nongovernmental sponsor of diabetes research, was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes—a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications.
Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $1 billion to diabetes research worldwide. We are proud to say that more than 86% of every dollar goes directly to research and research education.
Our mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
The Greater Dallas Chapter began in 1977 and contributes more than $4 million annually to diabetes research, as well as provides educational information and support to newly diagnosed individuals and their families. JDRF is dedicated to raising funds for research, and in Dallas we are doing this through a highly successful Walk, our Annual Dream Gala, a Golf Tournament and the Ride to Cure Diabetes Program.
